General Questions
Permanent holiday lighting isn’t just Christmas lights that stay up. It’s a professionally installed LED system mounted along your roofline that stays on your home year-round. You control everything from your phone — colors, patterns, and schedules. So instead of putting lights up every season, you have a system that’s always ready, whether it’s holidays, events, or everyday lighting. It’s really more of a permanent exterior lighting upgrade than just holiday lights.
So what's the price? Permanent lighting cost depends on your home's attributes. The main factors are your roofline, how much lighting is needed, and the complexity of the install. That’s why we provide custom quotes, because every home is different. There are many factors to consider, but with that in mind, our average install typically falls somewhere between the $3000 to $6000 range.
Eternalight offers the best warranty in the industry - don't let anyone tell you different. As of July 1, 2025, Eternalight offers a 10-year product warranty and a 10-year installation and service warranty with no fine print.
Some very important differences between Eternalight and our competitors:
We replace entire light strands and components in full - we don't cut and splice lights in if a product fails. There is no "fixing" - only free product replacement.
Lifetime warranties (many companies claim to offer these) are bogus and unrealistic. To translate, this warranty covers the bulbs for "the product's lifetime", which is ambiguous and undefined and comes with a full page of fine print terms and conditions. We all know that LEDs don't last a lifetime, so don't be tricked by the lifetime warranty sales pitch - it is nonsensical.
We own our boom lift. Why is this important? To warranty your system at difficult to reach areas, we don't have to rent a lift for hundreds of dollars a day.
Our warranty covers everything, including water and ice damage. Competitor warranties do not, even though water and ice are the two most common factors in warranty claims.
We also stand behind our workmanship by matching the product warranty with the same 10-year guarantee on all workmanship. If something isn’t right, we take care of it — no runaround. This means if something fails within the warranty period, we are the ones going up the ladder to fix it - not the homeowner.
We are based out of LaSalle and are typically on site with a quick fix within just a few days, which is especially important around the holiday season. If you hire a competitor from out of town (London, the GTA, etc.), it may be months before they are back in our area to address potential warranty claims that cost them long hours and additional funds.
Will you see permanent lighting during the day? If you look hard enough, yes — but the goal is to make it as discreet as possible. That comes down to things like track size, how it’s mounted, and how the wiring is handled. From the road, your home will have no visible changes that passersby will recognize. Some systems are bulky and very noticeable, while others - like the one we install - are designed to blend into the home. A properly installed system should look clean and intentional — not like something was added after the fact.
If a light stops working, thankfully our system is modular. That means we can replace sections cleanly without cutting or splicing wires. Some systems require electrical work just to fix one section. Modular systems make maintenance much easier and keep everything looking clean long-term. We back up every install with a comprehensive 10-year warranty on parts and workmanship, so you can rest easy knowing your investment is covered with the best warranty in the industry.
Permanent lighting is not just for Christmas. Most homeowners actually use it all year — Halloween, Canada Day, Diwali, game days, birthdays, or just as everyday exterior lighting. Once it’s installed, your home becomes something you can customize anytime. So it’s less about holidays and more about having flexible lighting whenever you want it.
Why do prices vary so much from one lighting system to the next? Prices vary because not all products or installs are the same. In our industry, there is a wide range of product quality, number of LED and connection components per foot, installation quality, system design, LED density, and attention to detail - all of which play a huge role in pricing. Permanent lighting is something you’ll see every day, so the differences from one system to the next - and one installer to the next - matter more than most would expect.
No - definitely not. No two permanent lighting installs are the same. Every home has major differences with regards to roofline, different materials, and different architectural details. That’s why proper planning, measuring, and customization are so important. The install
should follow the home — not force the home to fit the system.
It's very important to understand that no two permanent lighting systems are the same. There are major differences in track size, LED density, how visible the system is, number of components, and how it’s maintained. Some systems are more bulky, others are more discreet. Understanding those differences is important because it directly affects how your home will look.
After you request a quote, we review your home and put together a custom plan based on your roofline and what you’re looking for - we do this on our own time. From there, we'll look to book a site visit at your home. During the site visit, we’ll walk you through everything so you understand exactly what you’re getting when you choose our product and an Eternalight install.
Of course! If you’re still unsure about permanent lighting, that’s completely normal. I offer quick calls where I walk you through how it works and what to look for. No pressure and no sales pitch — just honest information so you can make the right decision for your home whether you decide to work with us or not.
